The Kenya National Blood Transfusion Services (NBTS) was established in Kenya by the Ministry of Health, and entrusted with the responsibility of managing the Blood collection and transfusion in Kenya. NBTS is situated in Nairobi, with six Regional Blood Transfusion Centers and nine Satellite Centers around the country. It is responsible for achieving the objectives of the national policy on blood transfusion.
NBTS houses the secretariat of the National Blood Transfusion Service, in addition to performing blood transfusion functions. It is charged with the responsibility of accomplishing the objectives of the national policy on blood transfusion.
NBTS works in collaboration with all relevant stakeholders including The Kenya Government, Donors, Non-Governmental organizations, and the private sector on issues pertaining to blood transfusion and blood supply.
REGIONAL BLOOD TRANSFUSION CENTRES
KNBTS has 6 regional blood transfusion centers strategically located throughout the country to effectively meet the regional blood needs.
KNBTS has nine satellite centres spread accross the regions to ensure blood is provided to tranfusing hosptials. Many satellites also are able to collect blood.
