LVCT Health’s one2oneTM Integrated Digital Platform (OIDP) is a peer-led, multi-platform virtual safe space designed to respond to SRH, HIV and GBV information needs for adolescents and youth by providing accurate, confidential and credible information and referrals through a toll-free hotline, Short Messages Services (SMS), digital platforms that appeal to adolescents and young people (Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter, youtube, and Instagram).
In 2017, 3,380,458 young people were reached via social media platforms while the hotline received and responded to 38,601 calls. 45,612 SMSs were received in the period. Key issues that formed the backbone of interactions were interpersonal relationships, HIV information and services, pregnancy and birth control, psychosocial support, sexual and gender based violence and STI information and services. 631 adolescents and young people specifically wanted information on PrEP and 244 were keen on understanding and accessing HIV self-testing services.
1,136 adolescents and young people were referred for and received various services; HIV testing services, HIV care and treatment, contraception, STI treatment and Post Rape Care services through a robust country-wide referral network.
The platform supported nine confidential peer-led virtual support groups and chat-rooms with over 350 members for various groups for adolescents including adolescents living with HIV, County-based Youth Advisory Councils and young people trained as Champions for certain causes e.g. PrEP. Discussions in these virtual groups are regulated by peers, and questions that need technical answers are addressed by trained counselors.
